Dear Colleagues interested in diabetes management,

Currently, we are experiencing an intensive discussion about the need of National Diabetes Plans and the efficacy and effectiveness disease management concepts. The existing concepts vary significantly and only little is known about the degree of implementation of National Diabetes Plans in many countries.

Therefore, we want to start a Global Diabetes Survey, a standardized and structured annual evaluation which will report the degree of implementation of National Diabetes Plans worldwide.

For this purpose, a representative group of experts from all different sectors of diabetes care, including you, is invited to get involved voluntarily and help to help each other.

We believe that an annual report like this can provide unique information about clinical diabetes practice and help to identify barriers and gaps concerning the implementation of National Diabetes Plans.

Furthermore we believe that generated scientific data and its well-placed presentation will enable us to motivate stakeholders to improve diabetes management and the quality of National Diabetes Plans.

Therefore, we ask for your assistance. Register soon at www.globaldiabetessurvey.com, become a Global Diabetes Survey volunteer and answer the Global Diabetes Survey questionnaire once a year ( the first one will be published in September and answering the questions will only take about ten minutes). Your help and your input is very much appreciated and will step by step help to improve the quality of diabetes care worldwide. Of course, your personal data is treated highly confidential.
